The glory days of country music will be revived during a special tribute concert in Smith Center. Fans of traditional country music, specifically that of Marty Robbins, are invited to attend the concert featuring Jim Bames, Orleans, Neb., and Melinda Ferree, Wilcox, Neb., at 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Smith Center High School auditorium.

Opening for Bames and Ferree will be teen performers Alexa Whipple, a 13-year-old singer/yodeler/guitar player from Arapahoe, Neb., and Bailey Wilton, an engaging young singer from Lincoln.

Bames, a well-known performer at dances, festivals and concerts across the region, captivates his audiences with his deep, mellow voice as he sings his own renditions of such Robbins selections as "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife," "Devil Woman" and "Beggin' to You."

Ferree, who starred as Patsy Cline in "Always ... Patsy Cline" in a Minden Community Players production in 2007, has portrayed the immortal singer for numerous events across central Nebraska. She promises to bring back sweet memories as she sings her favorites.

Whipple is a young country gal who blends her country singing and yodeling with excelling in her many high school activities. She's appeared at numerous events and festivals across Kansas and Nebraska.

A natural entertainer. Wilton is an up-and-coming singer who loves both the traditional and modern styles of country music and is especially at home with country gospel songs.
