The Hays Medical Center Foundation received two gifts toward its Beyond Medicine campaign.

Commerce Bank pledged $10,000 and the William T. Kemper Foundation contributed an additional $25,000.

"We are extremely grateful for the gifts from Commerce Bank and the William T. Kemper Foundation, and for all of the community support we have received throughout this campaign," said Ruth Heffel, executive director of the foundation.

The campaign has a goal of $5 million for the construction of a new medical office tower, expansion of the Dreiling/Schmidt Cancer Institute and the Women's Center, and renovation of the Breast Care Center and patient rooms. The projected total cost for the entire project is $18.5 million. The foundation has a second $2 million goal for future endowments.

Since its establishment in 1995, the Hays Medical Center Foundation has played an increasing role in the growth, expansion and level of quality health care provided to the community by HaysMed.
