Ongoing events

Snow sculpture contest

You can enter by taking a photo of your snow sculpture and mailing it to the HRC or e-mail it to gail@haysrec.org. Write the name of participants that helped build the creation and a home phone number on the back of the photo or include it with your e-mail. Winners will be announced the first week of April and receive a plaque along with other prizes. All participants will receive a free snoball. Entry deadline: March 31.

Wednesday deadline

Messy hands

Deadline extended to Wednesday at noon. Entry fee: $3. Date: Feb. 10. Times: 7 to 8 p.m. Ages: 2 to 5 with an adult. Location: Recreation Center. Limitation: minimum five, maximum 10.

Spring soccer league

Entry fee: $25. Practice begins: The week of March 8. Play will begin: March 27. Age groups: 5- and 6-year-olds, 7- and 8-year-olds, 9- and 10-year-olds and 11- to 14-year-olds (as of March 1). Coaches' meeting: 6 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Recreation Center.

Flag football league

Entry fee: $30. Age groups: Boys and girls ages 9 to 12 (as of March 1). Practice begins: The week of March 8. Play begins: March 28. Coaches' meeting: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Recreation Center.

Baseball fundamentals open gym

Entry fee: $20. Date: Sundays, Feb. 14 to March 28. Ages and Times: 8- to 10-year-olds, 6 to 7 p.m.; 11- to 14-year-olds, 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Location: Recreation Center and Glassman Ballfields, Fourth and Milner. Awards: T-shirt.

Softball fundamentals open gym

Entry fee: $20. Date: Sundays, Feb. 14 to March 28. Ages and Times: 8- to 10-year-olds, 6 to 7 p.m.; 11- to 14-year-olds, 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Location: Glassman Ballfields and indoor batting cage, Fourth and Milner. Awards: T-shirt.

Busy body

Join the fun of making crafts, reading stories, cooking projects, gym play and tumbling during this four-week session. Entry fee: $10. Date: Tuesdays, Feb. 16 to March 9. Times and ages: 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., 2- to 3-year-olds; 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., 3- to 5-year-olds. Location: Recreation Center. Limitation: minimum five, maximum 12.

Cupid's arrow

Join the fun of creating our very own Valentine's Day card for that special someone. Entry fee: $3. Date: Thursday. Time and ages: 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. 2-year-olds with an adult; 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., 3- to 4-year-olds. Location: Recreation Center. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 12.

Lincoln re-enactment

Come and celebrate the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth at Lincoln's re-enactment day. We will enjoy a buffalo stew meal for lunch. Meal is included. Entry fee: $25. Date: Saturday. Time: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Age: 55 and older. Depart from: Recreation Center. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 15.

Class schedules and descriptions can be seen online at www.haysrec.org. All classes are drop-in classes for $2 per class. Punch cards can be purchased at the HRC office for $20 for 12 punches.

* Low Impact -- 8:10 to 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

* TRX training, 1 to 1:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

* Cardio Mix -- 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

* Light lunch -- 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

* Step Interval -- 4:30 to 5:20 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

* Yoga -- 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

* Zumba -- 6:35 to 7:25 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

* 30-minute power -- 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesdays.

* Cardio Combo -- 5:30 to 6:20 a.m. Fridays.

* Step On Up -- 8:10 to 9 a.m. Fridays

Senior fitness classes

All classes are drop to in classes and are $1 per session.

* Senior Sit and Be Fit, 1 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

* Line dancing, 1 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

* Arthritis Foundation Sit and Be Fit, 1 to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays.
