HRC office hours

The HRC office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for Wednesdays, when the office is open until 6 p.m. The HRC phone number is (785) 623-2650.

New class

Brute force training

Pull yourself away from the gym and spend a month training Brute Force Style. You will learn how to train using body weight training, odd object training (kegs, tires, hammers, etc.) resistance cardio, and interval cardio. Try something out of the ordinary and break out of your routine. Sign up online or in the office now. Entry Deadline: Saturday. Entry fee: $20, included T-shirt. Date: March 1. Future class calendars will be handed out at class. Time: 6 p.m. Ages: 18 and older. Location: Pratt Optimist Soccer Complex, Fourth and Pine. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 20.

Wednesday deadline

Dad and son bowling night

Want to spend a night with your son having a lot of fun bowling? Boys can be accompanied by their dad, uncle, brother, grandfather or anyone older than 18 who is special to them. The fee covers your bowling shoes and one game per family member. Entry fee: $4 per person. Date: Saturday. Time: 5:30 p.m. Ages: 3 and older with an adult. Location: Centennial Lanes, 2400 Vine. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 30 couples.

Busy bees

Do you want to learn the hobby and business of bee keeping? Join Greg Swob as he explains the estimated costs to get started in the hobby with basic equipment needed. You will also find out how the White House and Chicago's City Hall are using bee hives. Learn more about this now and attend the Kansas Honey Producers in Hays in March. Entry fee: Free. New date: March 3. Time: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Ages: 16 and older. Location: Recreation Center. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 20.

Women's volleyball league

Be a part of the women's volleyball league forming now. We offer bother recreation and competitive leagues. Entry fee: $120 per team, payable by team or sponsor. Date: Sundays, March 7 to May 16 Ages: Teams formed, 16 and above. Location: Recreation Center.

Playtime

Join HRC and Head Start for a morning of social play. This class is designed for kids to participate in stories, art activities, songs/dancing, free play time, parental support, plus more. Group experience encourages children to interact with each other, explore, experiment, problem solve, and create. At the end of the class, the children will have the opportunity to plan next month's theme. Parents are encouraged to attend and play with their child during this session. Entry fee: $5 per session. Date: Thursday. Time: 9:30 to 11 a.m. Ages: 3 to 5. Location: Recreation Center. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 10.

Major art for minors

Children will learn about art though painting, sculpting and other exciting techniques. We will learn by using our hands, paintbrush and other objects to come up with a creative masterpiece. Entry fee: $5. Date: March 4. Times: 4 to 5 p.m. Ages: 5 to 11. Location: Recreation Center. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 15.

March 3 deadlines

* Handcrafted greeting cards, 18 and older.

* Snowball coed softball tournament, 16 and older teams formed.

* Story time, 2- to 4-year-olds.

* Story time yoga, 2- to 4-year-olds.

* Let's find out, 3- to 5-year-olds.
