The HRC office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for Wednesdays, when the office is open until 6 p.m. The HRC phone number is (785) 623-2650.

Do you have toys your children have outgrown and are looking for a new home? Consider donating them to HRC. They will be used in many of our children's programs by hundreds of children. For more information, call Gail at (785) 623-2650.

Wednesday deadline

Celebrate moms

Bring your child to create a Mother's Day gift for you while playing and interacting with their peers. You get to spend time doing something special for yourself while your child also will be making lunch for you on your return. Entry fee: $5. Date: Friday. Time: 9 to 11:30 a.m.; lunch at 11 a.m. with moms. Ages: 3 to 5. Location: HRC. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 10.

Messy monsters

Bring your child in for a messy art experience designed just for them. Shaving cream, pudding, paint and Play-Dough will be part of the experience. Come explore the amazing world of art, and leave the clean up to us. Entry fee: $3. Date: May 15. Time: 6 to 6:45 p.m. Ages: 2 to 5 with an adult. Location: HRC. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 15.

Dad and daughter putt-putt night

Girls, grab that special dad, uncle, grandfather or anyone older than 18 for this event. We will play a great game of putt-putt golf. Each participant will play 18 holes of golf. Entry fee: $5 per person. Date: Friday. Time: 6:30 p.m. Ages: 3 and older with an adult. Location: Precision Valley Golf Center, 1500 W. 27th.

Pottery and books

Pottery and reading, what a great combination. This program will start off with a book followed by painting a piece of pottery that relates to the story. Kids will have a great time using their imagination to create a storybook character or related idea. Entry fee: $13. Dates: May 14. Time: 1 to 2 p.m. Ages: 3 and older with an adult. Location: Pottery Works, 126 W. Ninth. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 10. Instructor: Pam Fellers.

Let's do lunch

Break up your busy day with a relaxing lunch at HRC. The social scene starts at 11:30 a.m. with a fun game and conversation. Lunch served at noon. Hang out until 1 p.m. for a guest speaker. Entry fee: $5. Date: May 13. Time: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Ages: 55 and older. Location: HRC. Limitations: minimum six, maximum 15.

NBC baseball points tournament

NBC boys baseball 9-14U open class tournament. Three-game guarantee. Entry fee: $200. Dates: May 18 and 19. Location: Bickle/Schmidt Sports Complex.
