The Humane Society of the High Plains invites kids to e-mail pictures of themselves and their pets to webmaster @HSHPonline.org for the new Kids & Kritters page on its Web site, www.hshponline.org. Children also can write up to 100 words about their pets, if they like.

There are a few ground rules. No inappropriate pictures will be put up. Only the kids' first names and the names of the pets will be used. A parental release must be included giving the HSHP permission to use the pictures. The form is linked on the home page.

The Kids & Kritters page has a list of interesting links for both parents and kids. It includes everything from how to choose a pet to crafts kids can do with paper bags. Articles of interest to children will rotate. Articles can help teach a cat to walk on a leash and a dog to shake hands. Later, articles such as "Can You Speak Dog?" and "Can You Speak Cat?" will be available.
