Alvera Reichert, Hays, arrived in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Feb. 4, 2010, as part of the civilian surge to help with the stabilization of Afghanistan. As a contracting officer, she will administer and award contracts for the United States. The contracts are related to the rehabilitation and restoration of electricity, water supply and sanitation. Reichert works for the U.S. Agency for International Development, which directs the infrastructure program in Afghanistan.
