Seven Quinter boys became Eagle Scouts at the Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Jan. 12
Six of seven Scouts from Quinter Troop No. 164 were present.
In attendance were Kevin Balluch, Caden Glick, Jacob Hargitt, Jordan Hargitt, Zach Nemechek and Scott Ochs. Edward Machen was absent.
A Boy Scout becomes an Eagle Scout when 21 merit badges are completed, Eagle project is approved and finished and the Scout faces a board of review (all before the age of 18).
An Eagle Scout Court of Honor is optional, but it is a tribute to the Scouts for their years of dedication and service.
These former Scouts completed their Eagle projects while they were still in high school but just now celebrated with their Court of Honor. Former scoutmaster Victor Nemechek was their leader when they completed their requirements.
Their projects were: Kevin Balluch, aided physical therapy patients; Zach Nemechek and Scott Ochs, placed benches at the grade school playgrounds; Ed Machen and Jordon Hargitt, built a roof above the dugout at the baseball field; Jacob Hargitt, put up the flagpole at the baseball field; and Caden Glick, built some safety fences at the grade school.
Helping with the ceremony were Nemechek; Boy Scouts Toby Cichonski and Issachar Scofield; Eagle Scouts Garret Press, Ryan Cooksey, Todd Cooksey and Jeremy Blackwill; Advancement Chairwoman Kathy Koehn; Committee Chairwoman Lela Cooksey; Wheatland Troop Advancement Chairman Doug Press; and Scoutmaster Tim Schofield.
Following the ceremony, scouts and their families and friends had refreshments in the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Quinter now has 37 Eagle Scouts.
