Apple Pie

Apple Pie

5 cups peeled sliced apples
2 tablespoons water
¾ to 1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Pinch of salt

2 tablespoons butter or margarine
milk
sugar

Prepare your favorite crust or use purchased pie crust. Put apples and water in saucepan with lid and steam until apples start to soften. Combine sugar, flour spices and salt. Add to apples and stir. Line pie pan with crust and add apple filling.  Dot with butter or margarine.  Add top crust and seal the edges.  Cut slits in top crust.  Brush with milk and top with sugar. 

Bake in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes and then at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until crust in brown.
