Syl and Jeannie Rome celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 16, with a Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis, with Father Richard Daise officiating.
Their original attendants, Martha Rome, Steve Kaiser, Rosetta Aschenbrenner, Robert Dreiling, Vera Hartman and Clara Unrein, were present. Other attendants were the late Marvin Rupp and the late Raymond Rupp. The bride's car drivers, Vernie Riedel and Robert Dreiling, also were present.
The couple's children and grandchildren, and many relatives and friends, joined them at Knights of Columbus Hall, Ellis, for a social hour, reception, dinner and dance.
The couple has four children, Dennis Rome, James Rome and wife, Sandy, Lucinda Smith and husband, Joe, and Melinda Hulse and friend, Rick.
The couple has six grandchildren, Jenna Smith, Justin and Crystal Smith, Nate Hulse, Hannah Hulse, and Lexie and Alyssa Rome.
The couple has two great-grandchildren, Weston and Trinity.
The couple moved to the family farm in St. Peter 50 years ago.
