Church offers dinner for Valentine's Day

A Valentine's Day dinner is being offered by First United Methodist Church, 305 W. Seventh.

The dinner will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 14 at the church. The menu includes bacon-wrapped steak fillets or baked chicken breast, red hot Jell-O salad, twice-baked potatoes, French green beans, French bread and chocolate cherry cake.

There will also be music, entertainment and door prizes. A nursery will be available by reservation only.

Millermon to perform at Valentine's Day dinner

ALTON -- Mount Ayr Friends Church of Alton will feature Christian songwriter and recording artist Ginger Millermon at a Valentine's Day dinner.

The dinner will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 14 at Homestead Restaurant in Alton.

Millermon has spoken and ministered to churches and conferences across the United States, recorded five albums and written a book, "Grace Thus Far."

Love focus of February Hays After 5 gathering

Area women are invited to attend the Hays After 5 February event, "It's All About Love," from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Bakery Shop, 203 E. Eighth. Cost is $11.75.

Veterinarian Steve Mosier of Hays Veterinary Hospital will talk about "Loving Your Pet."

Donna Roth Hillis, Wichita, will present, "Shattered But Not Broken." Hillis is a retired nurse and former corporate flight attendant.  

She will share about the death of her first husband in a plane crash 10 years ago.   Hillis is recently remarried and has gained a 16-year-old step-son.   She enjoys golf, travel, fine dining and gym workouts.
