Former Gov. Mike Hayden, whose booming voice had become synonymous with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, has taken a job as executive director of the Missouri River Association of States and Tribes.
He replaces David Pope, who was the former chief engineer of the Division of Water Resources and had played a key role in Hays-area water issues.
Hayden, who hails from Atwood, had served as chairman of the group's executive committee in his role as KDWP secretary.
