I'd like to congratulate the Fort Hays State University Students for Life for the amazing and inspiring efforts put into the "Light in the Dark" 5K Run/Walk for Life on Friday night on campus. Approximately 200 participants gathered to be the voice of the innocent unborn, to show their respect and love for life, and to express their fervent wish to abolish abortion and begin to heal the suffering that has been inflicted on so many since Roe vs. Wade's deadly inception.
While most people believe the old adage that "with age comes wisdom," what I witnessed Friday night surely would test that theory. Despite the darkness of death that surrounds our country, our world, these students stood up for what they believed in and put their convictions into action. The inspiring event was enthusiastic and greatly conveyed the spirit of authentic humanity and hope. The crowd, comprised mostly of college students, showed great wisdom and maturity, and I am so proud of them.
In contrast, there are times I am surprised to find "mature" adults, who, despite being well into their 40s, 50s and beyond, still refuse to acknowledge the glaring atrocities of abortion or denounce it as evil. For example, our mainstream media is comprised of mostly "mature" adults who should be exhibiting a certain wisdom that comes from their life experience, higher education and public status. Yet, for the most part, there has been very little coverage of the current trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell.
How strange. Do I smell a cover-up? Here we have a "doctor" who is accused of heinous crimes against babies and women -- an abortionist who, in the true form of a demon, allegedly stored baby parts in jars and bags in his refrigerator, clogged his clinic's sewer system with baby limbs and bodies, delivered live babies and snipped their spinal cords to kill them. This abortionist, operating within a profession whose members vow to "Do no harm," is accused of throwing a live baby into the toilet, where a nurse claims it fought for its tiny life.
Are these monstrous, spine-chilling deeds too gruesome to talk about? Do their images make you feel like you are being subjected to a glimpse straight into the pit of hell? Yes, indeed, Evil does have a face.
Still, many will continue to look the other way. They don't want to think about the "Dr. Frankenstein's monster" our society has created through our apathy, our selfish desires, our ignorance, our sinful greed, and stubborn pride.
Yes, our society has helped to create the Kermit Gosnells of the world -- don't kid yourself, there are more Gosnells out there -- the difference is that they operate closer within the boundaries of the "laws" that our "civilized" country has given them. We, the citizens at large, along with our elected leaders gave Gosnell the right to kill. Heck, our tax dollars fund much of it, so why are we surprised that his actions have turned gruesome? Oh, but then again, what aspect of abortion is not gruesome? Slicing up a baby, burning it with saline or sucking its brain out are gruesome acts. Horrendous.
President Obama, who claims to be so concerned about guns killing our children that he recently stated, "This is our first task as a society ... keeping our children safe. This is how we will be judged," hypocritically advocates the killing of babies in the womb at every single stage of development, including after they are born. Look it up on Youtube, if you don't believe me. You can hear his own words if you search: Obama, Senate Bill, 1663.
Well, Mr. President, you are right about one thing. In years to come, those who manage to survive this "legal" holocaust, which we have condoned, will look back and wonder how the hell we let it go so far. For truly, we will be held accountable for the blood of the innocent. Each and every one whose life breath has been snuffed out.
"I tell you, on the day of judgment ... by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 36-37.
Let us continue to pray that the light in this present darkness will show us the way to disassemble the deceitful monster of abortion we have helped to create for more than 40 years.
