OAKLEY -- Oakley United Methodist Church invites the public to a free concert by Gabriel Peter Hughes at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Christian singer has three albums available, and a new project, "Songs To Watch the World Go By" is scheduled for release in September.

"I've been singing pretty much my whole life. When I was a kid, my dad would go speak at churches and I would sing," Hughes said about his music. "Back then, everyone thought it was cute. I'm not so cute anymore, but I still enjoy singing.

"Instead of opening for my dad, I've opened for Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, MercyMe, Mark Schultz, Tal and Acacia, Laura Story, Cloverton and others."

The event will be outside on the east side of the church, 611 N. Maple, in Oakley. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved into the sanctuary.

Attendees should bring blankets or lawn chairs.
