Larks win big

DODGE CITY -- Larry Rodriguez homered and drove in four runs and Levi Schlick pitched six strong innings to lead the Hays Larks to a 16-2 Jayhawk League win over Dodge City on Wednesday night.

Rodriguez hit a three-run homer in a four-run sixth and added a sacrifice fly in a seven-run seventh.

Cody Gougler and Andrew Heck also homered for Hays (13-5 overall, 9-4 Jayhawk). Heck hit a two-run blast in the third and Gougler hit a solo shot in the fifth.

Schlick (2-1) struck out 11, with two walks. He allowed one run -- unearned -- on three hits.

Will Hagel allowed five runs in five innings in taking the loss for Dodge City (10-9, 4-9).

Hays will begin a three-game series at Derby on Friday night.
