Ann Gottschalk reached 15 years of service with Nex-Tech on July 22, 2017. She is a customer sales representative at the Hays store.

Rick Robben reached 10 years of service with Nex-Tech on Aug. 1, 2017. He is a construction assistant II based in Victoria.

Jan Jackson reached 20 years of service with Nex-Tech on May 12, 2017. She is the billing, collections and network services manager at the Salina office.

Jessica S. Martin reached 10 years of service with Nex-Tech on May 18, 2017. She is a receptionist and customer sales assistant at the Hays store.

Aubree Broyles reached five years of service with Nex-Tech on May 29, 2017. She is a graphic designer at the Hays store.

Two new pediatricians recently joined the medical staff at Hays Medical Center.

Dr. Cody Heston and Dr. Chelsea Powell both started working at HaysMed.

Heston received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City and Wichita. He completed his residency in pediatrics at UNMC-Creighton- Children’s Hospital Joint Pediatric Residency in Omaha, Neb.

Heston completed a rotation at the pediatric center at HaysMed while he was in medical school and is excited to be a permanent part of the team.

Powell, a native of Hays, received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kan. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

Both physicians are accepting new patients at HaysMed’s Pediatric Center.

The Fort Hays State University chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management recently received an Outstanding Student Chapter Award from the national organization.

FHSU was one of 20 schools to receive the honor, which is earned by completing a variety of activities to earn points. Activities include chapter operations, fundraising, legislative advocacy, hosting and attending seminars and conferences, interacting with other SHRM chapters and participating in internships.

SHRM is the world’s largest human resource professional society, representing 285,000 members in more than 165 countries. The society provides resources serving the needs of HR professionals and advancing the practice of human resource management.

Allison Railsback, Mankato sophomore majoring in agricultural business at Fort Hays State University, recently received national recognition at the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif.

Railsback, president of Kansas Phi Beta Lambda, competed in several events, including business presentation and sales presentation, for which she earned sixth and ninth place, respectively.

During the business presentation event, Railsback gave a seven-minute presentation to judges about social media in the workplace. For the sales presentation event, she presented a seven-minute sales pitch to judges on buying a weekend getaway package to the fictional Willow Lake Bed and Breakfast.

Railsback, a virtual member of PBL, presented an update on Kansas PBL, networked with business leaders, voted for officers and walked for the March of the Dimes.

Railsback said more than 1,800 of America’s best and brightest college students made the trip to Anaheim to compete for the opportunity to win more than $95,000 in cash awards.

Cody Scheck joined Adams, Brown, Beran & Ball, Chartered.

Having previously interned with the firm, Scheck was hired as a staff accountant in June. He graduated summa cum laude from Fort Hays State University with a bachelor of business administration in 2015. That year, he also was selected as the recipient of the Torch Award for outstanding graduating senior. Scheck completed his master of business administration from FHSU earlier this year. He is originally from Victoria and lives in Hays.
