Summer band season kicks off

The FHSU/Hays City Band began will have summer season rehearsals Monday evenings through June 29 in the band room at Malloy Hall on the campus of Fort Hays State University. Concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays beginning with the June 16 Concert on the Quad on the FHSU campus, June 23 in Ellis at Washington Grade School, June 30 in WaKeeney, and July 4 at Historic Fort Hays.

Conductor Jeff Jordan said the group is open to all ranges and abilities.

"We have players in middle school, as well as community members in their eighties with almost everything in between," he said. "This band points up the fact that music is something you can always do while it's also a great inter-generational learning experience for everyone involved."
