Business Briefcase

Drue Herl of Adams, Brown, Beran and Ball has completed all requirements to become licensed as a certified public accountant in the state of Kansas. Herl graduated from Fort Hays State University in 2006, where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration, majoring in accounting. A native of Colby, Herl has been employed with ABBB in the Hays office since December 2006.

Jesse Pfortmiller has been named business account executive with Nex-Tech Wireless. He will work with local businesses within the Nex-Tech Wireless coverage area to evaluate their wireless communication and data needs. The Phillipsburg native, previously employed at Brooke Corp., has five years of business and management experience.

The Western Kansas Human Resource Management Association received the Superior Merit Chapter designation from the Alexandria, Va.-based Society for Human Resource Management. WKHRMA is one of 64 chapters receiving the distinction in SHRM's southwest central region comprised of 10 states and 117 affiliated chapters. WKHRMA meets for lunch the third Tuesday of each month, excluding July. Meetings are in Hays at the Ramada Inn, with professional speakers each month to keep members up to date on such things as legal developments, legislative updates, new human resources developments, worker compensation, benefits and workforce development.

Liam J. Stringham has joined Sunflower Electric Power Corp. as a transmission engineer. Stringham graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Hannah S. Albers joined the Sunflower administrative services department as administrative/travel assistant. Albers graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degrees in hotel/restaurant management and business administration.
