The High Plains Showcase will not be the only Smoky Hill River Festival event making a stop in Hays.

On March 30, in addition to the showcase concert, there will be a "Button Stop" event.

The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ramada Inn, 3603 Vine, before the showcase concert that will begin at 7 p.m.

At each of the four showcase events, bands will compete for one of four available spots to perform on the Main Stage on the Sunday during the Smoky Hill River Festival in June.

The "Button Stop" event and the showcase concerts give families a chance to purchase festival buttons at a discounted price.

The buttons provide entry into the festival on all days, but a button is not needed for children ages 11 and younger.

The cost of the buttons is $10, and they only will be available for purchase at the concert or at Button Stops.

The first 50 families who stop in at the "Button Stop" will receive a free craft kit and be able to look at displays of Artyopolis, a kid-sized metropolis of arts, crafts and games.

They also will be able to enter to win free festival buttons.

There is no admission fee for the "Button Stop" event.
