Two hurt in Thomas County wreck

Two men were hospitalized after an accident on Interstate 70 in Thomas County Monday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1992 Mercedes Benz driven by Philip Burton Halbert, 74, Ouray, Colo., was eastbound and entered the on-ramp a mile east of the Kansas Highway 25 junction. The vehicle entered the south ditch before re-entering the eastbound lanes of I-70.

Halbert's vehicle was struck by a 2013 Kenworth semi driven by Ronald G. Jones, 61, Denver, which overturned and came to rest on its side.

Both men were taken to Citizens Medical Center in Colby for treatment of possible injuries. Both were wearing seat belts, the KHP reported.
