Delmas K. Windholz

Delmas K. Windholz, 74, Lawrence, formerly of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Brandon Woods Retirement Center, Lawrence.

He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Emmeram to Adam J. and Anna (Scheck) Windholz.

He married Mary (Maley) on May 26, 1956, in Hutchinson. She preceded him in death Aug. 10, 2009. He worked for Dillon's for 16 years and was a candy and fabric salesman for the Kansas division for about 20 years.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Lawrence.

Survivors include a son, Tim Windholz and wife, Gretchen, Lawrence,; two daughters, Joni Bontrager and husband, Jerry, Lawrence, and Jennifer Schwarz, Olathe; three sisters, Edna Tope, Pretty Prairie, and Georgine Leiker and Lioba Schmidt, both of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Timothy Loper, Shelby Garlock, Adam Loper, Brooks Schwarz, Heidi Windholz, Hannah Windholz and James Windholz; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Penny Leigh Windholz; a brother, Charles Windholz; five sisters, Sister Margaret Louise Windholz C.S.J., Leona Tallman, Lucy Hertel, Regina Mai, and Theckla Gross; and an infant brother, Ernest Windholz.

Services will be at Noon Saturday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Emmeram.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Cemetery fund in care of the mortuary.
