LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) -- A former teacher in northeast Kansas has been sentenced to three years probation for having sex with a high school student.
Thirty-six-year-old Shannon Young was sentenced Wednesday on three counts unlawful voluntary sexual relations with a then-17-year-old student at Pleasant Ridge High School near Easton.
The Kansas City Star reports that Young had no previous criminal history.
Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson says she will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years and get a sexual offender evaluation.
