FHSU women win twice, now 6-0

TOPEKA -- The Fort Hays State Unviersity women's basketball team will be 6-0 heading into MIAA play next week.

The Tigers remained unbeaten with a pair of wins in the Capitol Plaza Classic on Friday and Saturday at Lee Arena at Washburn University.

Fort Hays defeated Arkansas Tech University on Friday, 81-52, then beat Texas-Permian Basin 63-43 on Saturday.

In Friday's win against Arkansas Tech, the Tigers opened the game on a 9-0 run en route the runaway win. Melissa Nelson, Traci Keyser and Kate Lehman each scored 16 points to lead the way for Fort Hays, and Katleyn Edwards added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Fort Hays is off until Dec. 5 when the Tigers open MIAA play with a home game against Unviersity of Central Missouri.
