Four Tigers place at season opener

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- For Fort Hays State University wrestlers placed in Saturday's season opener at the Central Missouri Open. Blake Malloy had the best finish for the Tigers, placing second at 165 pound, winning four consecutive matches to reach the finals. He won by major decision in the first two, and lost to Missouri Western State University's Nick Marable in the title match, 6-3.
Danny Grater, ranked No. 3 in the nation at 157 pounds, wrestled up 165, and won his first three matches before falling to Marable in the semifinals. He forfeited the rest of the tournament, but still finished sixth.
Andre Harrison finished fifth at 141 pounds, winning three straight matches, before falling in the semifinals, then again in the consolation semifinals. He ended the day with a win over Central Missouri's Cody Bloodgood.
Shawn Kuhlman finished sixth for the Tigers at 174 pounds, winning his first two matches before a loss. He then recorded two falls int he consolation bracket, before falling in the consolation semifinals and the fifth-place match.
The Tigers travel to Omaha, Neb. on Saturday for the UNO Open.
