HHS soccer falls in WAC opener

GREAT BEND -- The Hays High School boys' soccer team fell 3-1 in its Western Athletic Conference opener to Great Bend on Monday.

Great Bend took a 3-0 lead with goals in the 24th, 48th and 56th minute, before the Indians got on the board. Senior Shawn Herrman scored for the Indians in the 74th minute, with the assist to sophomore Riley Zimmerman.

The Panthers out shot the Indians, 18-13, with 12 shots on goal. Hays High had 13 on goal.

The Indians (2-3 overall, 0-1 WAC) host Dodge City in their first home action at 4 p.m. Thursday at HHS Field.
