HHS swim team competes in Salina

SALINA -- The Hays High School boys' swim team competed Thursday in the Salina South meet and scored 181 points to finish fifth out of five teams.

Wichita Heights won with 335 points.

Senior Austin Chambers earned a first-place medal in the 100-yard breast stroke, finishing in 1 minutes, 9.81 seconds.

The 200-yard free relay team of junior Morgan Mathews, Chambers, senior Boone Pruter and senior Tommy Consiglio came away with a second-place finish in 1:41.36. Consiglio came away with a pair of second-place finishes, individually.

He finished in 54.25 seconds in the 100 freestyle and 2:24.91 in the 200 individual medley.

Mathews placed third in the 50 free in 24.87, and junior Ben Rajewski finished third in the 500 free in 6:21.92. The Indians' 200 medley relay (Rajewski, Chambers, Mathews, Consiglio) also finished third in 1:57.17.

Hays High's next action is 4 p.m. Tuesday at Topeka West.
