Decatur County woman hurt in crash

JENNINGS -- A Jennings woman was injured when the pickup truck she was riding in was struck head-on by a sport-utility vehicle on a county road 8 miles north of Jennings.

Barbara A. Szweistis, 73, was transported to Decatur County Hospital following the accident, which occurred at about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, an SUV driven by Kenneth R. Krizek, 79, Jennings, was traveling south on County Road 13 when it went left of center and struck the pickup driven by Lardrick A. Alexander, 48, Oberlin.

Alexander, Krizek and another passenger in the pickup, Kelly N. Stamm, 22, Oberlin, who were all wearing seat belts, were not injured, according to the report.

Szweistis was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
