KDOT announces project bids

TOPEKA -- The Kansas Department of Transportation on Wednesday announced approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects in Kansas.

The following bids were approved for northwest Kansas counties:

Ellis: U.S. Highway 183 Bypass from U.S. Highway 183 west and north to Interstate 70, overlay, 4.9 miles, APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division, Hutchinson, $912,801.20.

Ellis: U.S. 183 north of 55th Street, north to the Ellis/Rooks county line, seal, 15.2 miles, Heft And Sons, Greensburg, $445,451.60.

Smith: Kansas Highway 8 from U.S. Highway 36/K8 north to the Kansas/Nebraska state line, milling/overlay, 16 miles, APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division, Hutchinson, $1,320,905.72.

Smith: K8, stockpile bituminous material, APAC Kansas Inc. Shears Division, Hutchinson, $136,988.50.

Trego: U.S. Highway 283, stockpile bituminous material, APAC Kansas Inc. Shears Division, Hutchinson, $142,842.00.

Osborne: U.S. Highway 281 from south of U.S. Highway 24 north to the junction, milling/overlay, 0.2 mile, APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division, Hutchinson, $49,210.35.

Rooks: Kansas Highway 18 from the Rooks/Graham county line east to K18/U.S.183, U.S. 183 from Plainville north to U.S. 183/K18; milling/overlay, 22 miles, APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division, Hutchinson, $1,896,643.54.

Ness: U.S. Highway 283 from Chestnut Street in Ness City north to the Ness/Trego county line, recycle/overlay, 16.7 miles, Heft and Sons, Greensburg, $2,886,342.07.

Osborne: U.S. Highway 24 from the south U.S. 24/U.S. 281 junction north to the north U.S. 24/U.S. 281 junction; U.S. 281 from the U.S. 24/U.S. 281 north junction north to the Osborne/Smith county line; overlay, 8 miles, APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division, Hutchinson, $1,279,046.02.

Statewide: Kansas Highway 181 from U.S. 24/K181 north to the Osborne/Smith county line; K181 from the Osborne/Smith county line north to U.S. Highway 36/K181; asphalt pavement, 19.2 miles, Bettis Asphalt and Construction, Topeka, $1,619,680.86.

Statewide: Old U.S. Highway 40 from I-70 (exit 128) north to Old U.S. 40/U.S. 283; U.S. 283 from I-70 (exit 127) north to the Trego/Graham county line; U.S. 283 from the Trego/Graham county line north 2.7 miles; milling/overlay, 12.5 miles, APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division, Hutchinson, $1,542,683.08.
