17 named to Leadership Hays class of '13

Seventeen area residents have committed to improving themselves and the community through additional leadership training from the Leadership Hays program. These individuals will spend seven sessions together from February to May exploring 21st century leadership subjects including communication, collaboration, group dynamics, creativity, visioning, learning styles and servant leadership skills.

This year's participants and the organizations they represent are Schamra Detherage, Hays Medical Center; Shanna Dinkel, Hays Middle School; Michael Drees, Commerce Bank; Beth Dreher, First Care Clinic; Carly Evans, Eagle Communications; Sara Evans, Walmart; Kris Fair, Nex-Tech; Deb King, Emprise Bank; Suzanne Klaus, Fort Hays State University; Traci Konrade, Downtown Hays Development Corp.; Rhiannon Maier, First Care Clinic; Dru Miller, Nex-Tech; Tasha Richmeier, Nex-Tech Wireless; Don Scheibler, Hays Police Department; Lisa Scheve, Sunflower Bank; Jake Schulte, Eagle Communications; and Marty Straub, Hays USD 489.

The group will be led by three local facilitators: Nikki Pfannenstiel, Sunflower Electric; Andy Stanton, Eagle Communications; and Tammy Wellbrock, Hays Area Chamber of Commerce. Participants also will be work together on a project to benefit local children.

Leadership Hays is a program of the   Hays Area Chamber of Commerce and is affiliated with the Kansas Leadership Center. The mission of the program is to improve and strengthen individuals and the Hays community by identifying, inspiring and involving those persons who have displayed a capacity for leadership.
