Lee Phelps

Lee Phelps, 86, Stockton, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at his home.

He was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Beatrice, Neb., to Orla L. and Mary Isabelle (Rouse) Phelps. He was a 1941 graduate of Beatrice High School.

He married Ruth Mae Wiebe on Nov. 27, 1946, in Beatrice. He and his wife owned and operated Phelps Card and Gift, Stockton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Craig, Elk City, Okla.; three daughters, Jan Perkins, Elk City, Mary Sturdy, Hays, and Kay Long, Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister, Betty Hotovec, Fremont, Neb.; a foster son, Dan Maguire, St. Cloud, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church; burial in Stockton City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kemp Family Funeral Chapel, 805 N. Cedar, Stockton, KS 67669.

Memorials are suggested to Gideon Memorial Bible Program, World Vision or Southern District of M.B. Churches (Watershed) in care of the funeral chapel.
