Commitment to service

My extent of getting involved in local politics is typically by voting, but I do understand their impact on our community both socially and financially. I am writing this letter in support of Josh Waddell who is running for one of the three open positions for the Hays USD 489 school board.

It has been a pleasure getting to know Josh and his family over the past eight years. I have had the opportunity to see him interact with the children he coaches and mentors as well as the parents of those children. Josh devotes a large portion of his time coaching not only his children's teams but other teams his children do not participate on. Coaching does not qualify one to be on the school board, but it does show Josh's commitment to service for the greater good our community.

Josh is currently participating on the facility needs committee for USD 489, which is giving him important insight to the future needs of our children attending the public schools in Hays. Also, it gives him the opportunity to see the inner workings of the school board as it relates to the students, teachers and administrators as well as the financial constraints associated with the budgets of school districts.

It is my firm belief Josh Waddell will provide an informed, educated and reasonable vote for the school board of USD 489. He was educated in the public schools of Natoma and Plainville and graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in biology. Our community needs an individual who will ask questions, provide educated input and analysis to insure decisions are made for the benefit of students, teachers, administrators and the community. In short, I have no doubt Josh Waddell will take on these tasks, and I ask you to vote for him April 2.
