Dead or  alive

Dead or  alive

Just weeks ago, we learned of another tragic murder of a baby and her mother. Another crazed individual? No, there were multiple accomplices. Another gun shooting? No, the weapon of choice used in this murder was most likely the pointed, sharp end of a pair of scissors. For this baby girl and her mother, these scissors became the lethal weapon and the result was death. Sound like a bone-chilling, violent act? It was.

The baby I am speaking of was a 33-week-old unborn baby girl. A baby, who, if given just a few more weeks, would have come into this world naturally. She would have been a citizen of the U.S. and given all the protection and rights associated with her citizenship. Instead, she was killed during a legal abortion -- and though I have yet to confirm the type of abortion used on her, mostly likely, considering her advanced gestation and size, "partial-birth" abortion would have been used. For those of you who don't realize what "partial-birth" abortion is:  Babies who are late-term are delivered breech so that the entire body is delivered, all except the baby's head. Many times the abortionist has to physically manipulate them into the breech position because they are so near their due dates that they are already head-down, ready to descend into the birth canal. (If the baby's head is delivered first, their brain active, it would be considered a live birth and the procedure first-degree murder.)

Next, the surgical scissors are inserted into the hollow of the back of the baby's neck to make an opening for a tube that will suction out the baby's brain so the baby's skull will collapse. Again, if this were done to the baby's head outside of the woman's body, those involved would be charged with murder. How's that for wicked forethought?

Does this sound like a made up horror story? It is horrific, all right, but not made up. The state of Maryland, where this is legal, allows the mother, the doctor and nurses, to perform this hideous and barbaric procedure up until the time of birth. You might be thinking, "That's terrible, but surely it doesn't happen very often." The facts are it happens each and every day throughout the U.S.  and world. What's worse, is that it is never best for the mother's health to kill the baby in her womb, especially at this late stage.

When I heard of this latest incident, I thought to myself, "I guess the world wants to define a baby's validity in these terms: If the baby is wanted, it's a baby. Everything will be done to save the baby inside and outside the womb.  If the baby is not wanted, it is not a baby. We will kill the baby."  Translation: Wanted equals alive.  Unwanted equals dead.

The mother of the aforementioned baby girl died of complications from the abortion. Malpractice charges are pending against the abortionist, which is the only reason the story made the news. Otherwise, it would just be another "legally murdered"  baby. I am sad and angry on behalf of  that innocent little baby girl who was tortured without mercy. I am both sad for and angry  her mother would actually walk into a clinic and request an abortion when she was so far along. Did a physician convince her that her baby had a birth defect and  it was best to kill the baby rather than let the baby be born just weeks later and die with dignity? Did she not feel the baby's kicks and movement? Was she shown a sonogram? Did she not realize that there are thousands of childless couples who would have gladly taken her little girl, even with birth defects?  So how does one come to make such a harsh decision? Deception, that's how. After all, what she did was considered legal in her state, so maybe we're all to blame. Obviously, we haven't done enough to stop this horrific and cruel act. We, the people, voted in Barack Obama, the most pro-abortion president in history. More importantly, he fought to keep partial-birth abortion legal in his state of Illinois.

Many take the "I don't think the government should tell people what to do," approach. Ridiculous. Each and every day, we are told what to do for the well-being of others: Stop at the stoplight. Don't light a fire when it's dry. Buckle your child in a car-seat. For a "free" country, we are sure told what to do at every turn, and yet, the only people who have no freedom or rights are the babies.

If you are of the belief abortion is safe and a benefit to women, you are deceived. If you think that late-term abortions are rare, you are deceived. If you don't realize that late-term abortions are done on perfectly healthy, nearly full-term babies, you are  deceived. If you believe your tax dollars do not pay for this hideous procedure, you are deceived.  If you believe our culture has not been, and will not continue to be, adversely affected by way of violent acts and other  repercussions  because of this blatant disrespect for life, you are deceived.

All you who are apathetic, deceived and detached, please, open your eyes. Do your own research. Check out the facts. How will we ever stop the gun violence if we do not recognize the violence in the womb? Violence done to our own children?  Consider this: If the "unwanted" rule applies to babies in the womb, it could one day apply to anyone deemed "dispensable". The Holocaust was real. Hitler chose who lived and who died -- and the people followed along like sheep.

Sadly, they followed the wrong shepherd.

I sincerely ask God's faithful to pray for conversion and enlightenment for all who would advocate the killing of the innocent -- for any reason.
