California man injured in accident Thursday

QUINTER -- A California man was injured Thursday when the tractor-trailer he was riding in veered off Interstate 70 about 3 miles west of Quinter.

John T. Jones Jr., 43, Dallas, was westbound on Interstate 70 in a tractor-trailer when he fell asleep at about 8:10 a.m. Thursday. The semi entered the north ditch, went through a Kansas Department of Transportation fence and came to a stop.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Jones' passenger, 56-year-old Roy Robinson, Colton, Calif., was in the sleeper at the time of the accident and was not wearing a seat belt. Robinson was taken to Gove County Medical Center with possible injuries.

Jones was wearing a seat belt. He suffered no injuries.
