Mo. woman injured in crash near Grinnell

GRINNELL -- A distracted driver was the cause for a one-vehicle accident Monday near the Grinnell exit on Interstate 70, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Joy E. Albertson, 25, Joplin, Mo., was westbound on I-70 at 1 p.m. when the KHP said she was distracted by another occupant in the vehicle. The 2003 Chrysler passenger car she was driving drifted off the left shoulder, Albertson then overcorrected twice, and the vehicle rolled into the median, coming to rest on the driver's side.

Only one passenger, Brenda J. Albertson, 28, Joplin, was injured. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP report. Four children in the vehicle, ranging in age from 3 months to 5 years, were wearing safety restraints.
