Carnegie Arts Center offers 'Ancient Art'

GOODLAND -- The Carnegie Arts Center presents the exhibit "Ancient Art," which includes two upcoming classes for the public, as well as its annual photo contest with winners chosen by the public.
A class Saturday will teach about hieroglyphics. In a Sept. 25 class, participants will make a Mayan headress. Each is from 10 to 11 a.m. and costs $3.
"Ancient Art" will continue through Sept. 30.
The center's annual Flatlander Photography Contest also is this month. Patrons can vote for their favorite photos in the categories of nature, landscape, still life, people and other.
People's Choice Award recipients will be announced Sept. 25. Winners receive a $25 gift certificate for Carnegie arts sales.
The center also is calling for any local photographers interested in forming a local chapter of the Photographic Society of America. Anyone interested can contact the center at (785) 890-6442.
