Hays City Band opens summer concert series Tuesday

The Hays City Band begins its concert series at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fort Hays State University Quad.

Lane Weaver, FHSU director of athletic bands and symphonic winds, will serve as conductor of Tuesday's program along with special guest Lyle Dilley, director emeritus of bands. A variety of classical repertoire, American music, patriotic features, film music and Broadway tunes will be featured on the program. Admission is free.

The band, which includes community members, FHSU faculty and students from middle school to college, will perform additional concerts throughout the summer in Ellis, WaKeeney and at Historic Fort Hays.
