Russell man hurt in one-vehicle wreck

A one-vehicle accident on Old U.S. Highway 40, approximately 2.7 miles west of Dorrance, resulted in the injury of a 59-year-old Russell man Monday.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Dennis K. Kingsbury was westbound on Old Highway 40 at about 6:55 p.m. at the time of the accident.

While navigating an s-curve in the road, Kingsbury's 1990 Chevrolet passenger truck reportedly left the roadway on the north side, then re-entered the roadway and went across to the south side, where it struck a guard rail and bridge structure before coming to rest in the south ditch.

Kingsbury was taken to Russell Regional Hospital before being transferred to Hays Medical Center.

He was not wearing a seat belt, KHP reported.
