The Hays High football team had its playoff hopes dashed Friday night with a 49-19 loss to McPherson in Class 5A, District 6 action at Lewis Field Stadium.
McPherson, which got the second berth in the district behind Hutchinson, led 28-3 at halftime and 42-3 before Hays High scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Hays High ends its season at 7-2 and WAC champions under first-year coach Ryan Cornelsen.
