HHS soccer picks up 3-1 WAC win

DODGE CITY -- The Hays High School girls' soccer team started off Western Athletic Conference play strong with a 3-1 road victory.

Three seniors scored for Hays High (4-1) against Dodge City.

Shelby Dinkel opened up the scoring in the 18th minute.

Dodge City managed to tie the game in the 29th minute, but five minutes later, Megan Bird regained the lead on an assist from Rachel Luedders.

Taylor Herman scored the lone goal in the second half on an assist from April Johnson in the 80th minute.

Hays High senior goalkeeper Laura Truman finished with four saves.

All-tournament team

Dinkel and Herman were named last weekened to the McPherson Invitational all-tournament team.

Herman scored two goals, and Dinkel added one at the tournament.
