Hurricanes fare well at two SW Kansas meets

The Hays Hurricanes recently competed in the Garden City and Leoti swim meets. At the Garden City meet, the following Hurricanes placed in the 10-and-under division. At age 9, Niklas Hleget was third in the 50 breaststroke and fourth in the 100 individual medley. At age 8, Amelia Jaeger was second in the 50 fly, fourth in the 50 back, fourth in the 50 breast, first in the 100 individual medley and first in the 50 free.

At age 8, Ryan Zheng was sixth in the 25 free, fourth in the 25 back and second in the 25 breast. At age nine, Gracie Stanton was fifth in the 50 fly. At age 10, Elizabeth Thomas was third in the 50 free and second in the 50 breastroke.

The following swimmers placed in the 11 and up division. Megan Flavin, 11, was sixth in the 50 breastroke and sixth in the 100 free. At age 12, Emilee Pfannenstiel was first in the 50 free, fifth in the 50 fly, fourth in the 50 breast and second in the 100 free.

Ana Goodlet was third in the 100 fly, third in the 100 back and second in the 200 IM. At age 16, Ben Rajewski was second in the 100 back, second in the 100 free and first in the 100 free. At age 12, Jackson Stanton was sixth in the 50 back and sixth in the 100 free. The girls relay team of Megan Flavin, Ady Albers, Emilee Pfannenstiel and Ana Goodlet took fourth in the 200 free relay.

In Leoti, the following Hurricanes played in the 11 and up age group. Kallyn Dewitt, 12, was fifth in the 100 free, Lakin Ditter (14) was fifth in the 100 fly, Flavin was fifth in the 50 back, fifth in the 50 breast and fourth in the 100 free.

Goodley (14) was fourth in the 100 back, fourth in the 200 individual medley and sixth in the 100 free. Elliott Rule, 12, was fifth in the 50 back, sixth in the 50 breast and sixth in the 100 free.

The girls relay team of Megan Flavin, Lakin Ditter, Kallyn DeWitt and Ana Goodlet took fourth in the 200 free relay. The Hurricanes compete next in Lakin and Dodge City, KS. The Hurricanes will host the Western Kansas Swim Club Combined Championship Swim Meet on July 13 and 14th at the Hays Aquatic Park.
