A.L. Huber company joins renewable movement

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) -- A new wind turbine near Interstate 435 in Overland Park is drawing questions and attention.
The turbine, which looks like paddle wheels sitting on an 83-foot steel pole, belongs to the A.L. Huber construction company. The manufacturer says it's the first of its kind in the country.
The company's owner, August L. Huber III, says the company is joining a national movement toward renewable energy projects.
Huber also plans to install solar panels for the company's headquarters and is completing an energy center. It will also provide a Web site showing how much renewable energy is being provided by the company's wind turbine and solar cells.
On another front, the Builders' Association in Kansas City, which serves commercial builders, says it seeing more interest in constructing new buildings with energy efficiency features.
