Tight credit slows down Kan. business development

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- Businesses and entrepreneurs in Wichita are finding it much harder to get financing, causing good deals to fall through.
The combination of the overall national economy and the many layoffs in the city's aviation industry has virtually dried up the commercial credit market.
Bankers, brokers and developers are frustrated as commercial development is going nowhere and they've yet to see a turnaround.
The seizing of the credit markets can't come at a worse time for Wichita as it tries to redevelop its downtown.
