Vatican finds enough evidence of Kansas miracle

Eds: APNewsNow.

COLWICH, Kan. (AP) -- A Vatican investigator has found a Colwich man's survival enough of a miracle that he will continue studying the case, with the goal toward declaring it an official miracle.

If Chase Kear's recovery from a traumatic brain injury is declared an official miracle, it would help determine whether Father Emil Kapaun of Pilsen will be canonized as a saint of the Roman Catholic Church.

Andrea Ambrosi, a lawyer and investigator for the Vatican, visited family members and doctors for two Wichita-area families last Friday who believe their children's survival should qualify as miracles. The families say prayers to Kapaun helped their children.

Details of the second case were not released.
