2 escape from Kansas prison

WINFIELD, Kan. (AP) -- Authorities continue searching for two inmates who escaped Thanksgiving Day from the Winfield Correctional Facility.

The inmates have been identified as 40-year-old Scott Dwyer and 31-year-old Wayne Purdy.

The Wichita Eagle reported that Dwyer had been in custody at Winfield since Nov. 18. He has a history of convictions for burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and drug possession out of Sedgwick, Sumner, Cowley, Wilson, Butler and Greenwood counties.

Purdy had been in custody at Winfield since Nov. 16. His criminal history includes burglary, theft, arson and criminal damage to property out of Sedgwick and Labette counties.

A prison official said in a phone interview Saturday with The Associated Press that the inmates had not been caught.
