Suspect in double homicide returning to Kansas

Eds: APNewsNow.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- A 22-year-old man suspected of killing a woman and her toddler son in northeast Kansas has agreed to be returned to the state from Texas.

Luis Antonio Aguirre formerly lived in the Riley County town of Ogden. He had recently moved to Austin, Texas, where he was arrested last week on charges of first-degree murder.

Riley County authorities said Wednesday that Aguirre has waived extradition and will be brought back to Kansas within a few days.

Aguirre is charged with killing 18-year-old Tanya Maldonado and her 15-month-old son, Juan Luis Maldonado. A hunter found the victims' remains in a shallow grave east of Ogden last month.
