Kan. Senate vote on tax bill, part of deficit plan

With BC-KS-XGR--State Budget

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- The 25-14 vote Thursday night by which the Senate approved a $61 million tax bill seen by supporters as crucial to balancing the next state budget.

A "yes" vote was to approve the bill and a "no" vote was to reject it.

Of the 31 Republicans, 17 voted "yes" and 14 voted "no."

Of the nine Democrats, eight voted "yes" and one did not vote.
