Snow pushes into northwest Kansas

Eds: APNewsNow.

GOODLAND, Kan. (AP) -- The powerful snowstorm that has blanketed parts of Colorado and Wyoming began pushing into northwestern Kansas on Thursday night.

But forecasters don't expect Kansas to get anything like the three-plus feet of snow recorded in the Denver area.

Kansas' three northwestern-most counties remained under a winter weather advisory Thursday evening.

Meteorologist Kelly James of the National Weather Service in Goodland says Sherman County could get 3 to 4 inches of snow overnight, with slightly higher accumulations possible in Cheyenne and Rawlins counties on the Nebraska border.

James says blowing snow could be a problem in the area as the winds picked up Thursday night. She expects the snow to taper off by mid- to late morning Friday.
