Crews recover Kan. man's body from Fall River

Eds: APNewsNow. UPDATES with body recovered.

NEODESHA, Kan. (AP) -- The body of a southeast Kansas man has been recovered from the Fall River, about two miles from where he fell in the water.

Greg Fisher, of Yates Center, was with three other people Saturday night when he fell from the Middle Dam into the water near Neodesha (nee-OH'-duh-shay).

Wilson County emergency responders began searching immediately for the 30-year-old man, but bad weather on Tuesday interrupted the work.

Fisher's body was discovered just before 6 p.m. Wednesday by workers from Wilson County Rural Fire District No. 6.

Sheriff Dan Bath says Fall River at Middle Dam has undertows and especially strong whirlpools. Bath says at least 10 people have drowned there over the years.
