They didn't want FrostFest to become AccidentFest.

So organizers of the annual lighted parade in Hays decided to postpone it.

The FrostFest committee called off Sunday evening's parade and prize drawing because of expected icy conditions.

Now, people have another week to collect tickets from participating businesses for the drawing for downtown dollars.

Activities are set for the same time, same place this Sunday.

The drawing will be at 5 p.m., followed by the lighted parade at 5:30 p.m.

It will be the first time the parade had to be postponed, said Sabrina William, Downtown Hays Development coordinator.

"We got really close (to postponing) one of those years," she said, "but then it cleared off.

"But this year, for safety purposes, we thought it best to reschedule," she added.

The forecast in Hays the next couple of days calls for more cold, snowy weather, with temperatures in the 30s by Sunday.
