Two semis collide; Scott City man injured

OAKLEY -- A Scott City semi driver was injured Monday morning when another semi pulled in front of him onto U.S. Highway 83 approximately 13 miles south of Oakley.

According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, John Mark Weinmann, 64, was northbound on the highway at 10 a.m. A semi driven by Phillip Lee Belew, 51, Ellinwood, turned south onto the highway from a side access road, and Weinmann's semi struck the driver's side axle of the trailer hauled by Belew.

Weinmann was taken to Logan County Hospital, Oakley, with injuries, according to the report. Belew was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
